Physical Description Large, powerful and muscular dog that is longer than it is tall. The head is large and boxy. The skull is broad and the muzzle is broad and blunt with powerful jaws. The nose is black. The high set medium size ears are drop and the eyes are small, almond shaped and brown. The tail is naturally long and tapered. |
Temperament Affectionate with their family and wary of strangers. The Tosa makes a very good watchdog and only barks when needed. This breed may fight with other dogs so should be watched with them and definatly should have early socialization. |
Training The Tosa Inu needs consistant training. |
Living Conditions Will do ok in apartment/City living if exercised daily |
Grooming Only occasional brushing needed to removed dead hairs |
Exercise High activity level. Would do best in a large fenced yard. |
