The Shiba Inu is the smallest of Japanese breeds. They were bred to flush birds and small game. Fist brought to the United States in 1954.

Physical Description
Medium size, compact, well muscled dog that has a foxy appearance. The head is broad with dark, upward slanting eyes, a black nose and small, erect ears.

Obedient , friendly, docile, loyal & patient with their owners. This breed is good with children & other animals. They also make good guard dogs. They are independent and known to wonder off.

Living Conditions
Will do ok in apartment. But would do best with and active owner.

Brief daily brushing

1 hour walks daily, Moderate activity level.

Coat Texture
doubled coated with a dense outer coat.

Coat Colors
Red, Sesame, Black/Tan, Undercoat is a cream, buff or grey.

2-5 pups per litter.
