Believed to have been in existence since the middle ages. They were the all purpose farm dog used in both guarding and herding.

This breed can live as long as 12-15 years of age

53 to 58 pounds & 16 to 18 inches tall at the shoulders

Physical Description
medium size, squarely built dog that is deep chested. They have a wedge shaped head with large prick ears and dark eyes and nose. They have a foxy appearance like mose spitz type breeds.

Temperament
Affectionate, Intelligent and active breed. The Buhund are usually good with children and also do fine with other dogs & pets. They will bark at strangers.

Training
Intelligent dog learns quickly, They do need a firm approach to when training them

Living Conditions
This dog will do ok in an apartment if exercised. They would do best with an active family

Grooming
Comb occasionally, especially during shedding.

Exercise
Highly active dog requires daily exercise. They enjoy running freely off lead or running along a bicycle
