Origin Netherlands, 1500s Named after Cornelious (kkes) de Gyselear, a dutch politician. The keeshond dates back as far as the sixteenth century in Holldan and is believed to be a descendent of the German Wolfspitz. They were first used as watchdogs on boats and farms. They were first brought to the UK in 1905 and the United States in 1928. |
