Physical Description medium size, short legged and heavy boned dog. It has a large, wide head, loose wrinkled skin and very long, broad ears that are set low. The eyes are dark with drooping eyelids. The muzzle is deep and the nose is dark with large nostrils. |
Temperament Stubborn, yet gentle & obedient. The basset hound is affectionate and good with children. They can also make a good watchdog |
Living Conditions This breed will do ok in an apartment |
Grooming Brush gently to remove dead hair. Ears need careful cleaning and care. Bathe this breed at least 2 times a month |
Exercise The basset does need a moderate amount exercise to keep it from becoming overweight |
