Origin United States 1800s. This breed descends from the Stafforshire Bull Terrier crossed with other fighting dogs. They were once used for dog fighting and unfortunatly still are today. |

Physical Description Medium-size, solid and muscular. The head is large, broad and powerful. The jaw is strong and the nose is large. The eyes are medium in size and set low. Ears are cropped erect or naturally rose or semi-prick. The chest is deep and the hindquarters are muscular. The tail is medium length. |
Temperament The pit bull can make a great family companion despite what you may see in the media. Some indivuals can be aggressive, but this is usually due to the owner training it to be that way.. When properly socialized with people from an early age they can be one of the sweetest dogs i know. This breed does not do well with other dogs as it may fight with them. |
Living Conditions Will do ok in apartment, only if exercised daily. |
